The lifting of the slip body is driven by the power cylinder to move the support plate up and down through the connecting rod. The slip body is driven down by the force of the power cylinder, the weight of the slip body and the friction between the pipe string and the slip teeth. The slip body relies on the power cylinder thrust and the friction between the pipe string and the teeth of the slip body. The action of the hydraulic lifting cylinder is controlled by the driller control valve. When the oil pipe string deviates from the wellhead center, the thrust of the hydraulic center cylinder is used to force the pipe string to center. Also, the driller controls the hydraulic control valve center or reset button on the operating table to push the pipe string to the center position of the wellhead and then operates the hydraulic lifting cylinder to clamp or loosen the pipe string.
The size of different hydraulic power slips can be changed according to the size of rotary table and drill pipe.
